Terms of Service

ltapzmap (“the Service”) is a shared map for lighter-than-air (hot air balloon) pilots, operated by Wicked Balloons. By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the Service.

Safety notice — not for navigation. The Service is an informational planning aid only. It is not a certified aeronautical chart or navigation system and must not be used as the sole basis for flight planning or in-flight decisions. Always consult official FAA sources (current sectionals, NOTAMs, TFRs, and Chart Supplements) and exercise pilot-in-command judgment. You are solely responsible for the safe and legal conduct of every flight.

1. Eligibility & accounts

Access is intended for certificated lighter-than-air pilots. Signup requires verification against the FAA Airmen registry and admin approval.
You must provide accurate information, keep your password secure, and are responsible for all activity under your account. Tell us promptly of any unauthorized use.
You must be old enough to hold the certificate you claim and to enter a binding agreement.

2. Your content

You keep ownership of the map data, files, and other content you upload or create (“Your Content”).
By marking content public or sharing it with a festival, you grant ltapzmap and other authorized users a non-exclusive license to store, display, and let recipients export it for the purpose of operating the Service. You can change visibility or delete your content at any time.
You represent that you have the right to share Your Content and that it doesn’t infringe anyone’s rights or violate any law.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

Upload unlawful, infringing, or deliberately false or hazardous data.
Misrepresent your identity or pilot credentials.
Scrape, overload, probe, or attempt to breach the Service or its data.
Use the Service to harass others or violate their privacy.
Resell or redistribute data in violation of its upstream license (see the About page).

4. Third-party data

The Service aggregates public data (FAA, OpenAIP, HIFLD, USGS, county GIS, OpenStreetMap, and others). That data is provided by third parties under their own licenses and may be incomplete, outdated, or inaccurate. Attributions and licenses are listed on the About page.

5. No warranty

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, completeness, fitness for a particular purpose, or uninterrupted availability. We do not warrant that the data is complete or current.

6. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Wicked Balloons and ltapzmap are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for any loss arising from reliance on the Service or its data — including any aviation incident, accident, or regulatory violation. The Service is a free, best-effort community resource.

7. Termination

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or that we can’t verify. You may delete your account at any time by contacting us.

8. Changes

We may update these Terms as the Service evolves; we’ll revise the “last updated” date when we do. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
